About Heather:
Heather Hixon,LMT & Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor: A free flowing form of yoga postures that is as much of a meditation as it is a series of yoga movements and asanas. This style of yoga supports relaxation, peace, and healing. Each of my yoga classes last approximately 70 minutes.

Kripalu Yoga - Tue., Sat. : 10 am |
This class can be gentle enough for beginners, and at times challenging enough for someone who enjoys a gentle yoga practice. I gauge all classes according to who shows. I learned years ago the importance of being mindful of new yoga students. There are always the modifications of the postures for those who need it. My wish is for each student to listen closely to their body and never go past the “edge”. |

Intro to Kripalu Yoga - Thu. : 6 pm |
This is a great class for brand new students OR for those returning to yoga after an extended period of time OR for students who a recovering from an injury or illness that would like to find modifications for the basic yoga postures. This is usually an 8 week series that is on going. We take time to practice Sun-Salutations and basic postures in between each series. Students can join in at any time. |

YogAromatherapy - Fri. : 10 am |
This I am proud to say in my own creation. I recently took a certification for Aromatherapy. I offer Aromatherapy Consultations along with Aromatherapy Massage…as you can tell I love the scents of essential oils and the benefits they offer us for healing. The class is one of my most gentle Yoga classes with a focus on the 7 chakras, which are energy centers located along the spine in our body. This class has a great energy, very calm, meditative and fun too!

Lauren Amerson, LMT, RYT, graduated from the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, FL and has been offering quality massage therapy since January 2007. She later graduated from Discovery Yoga teacher training program and was certified as a Kripalu Yoga teacher in March 2009. Through massage therapy, she hopes to offer a space of relaxation, pain relief, freedom from tension and increased body/mind awareness. Her yoga practice emphasizes the use of the breath as a means to create space in the body, to find grace in each movement, to naturally deepen postures, and to encourage the experience of being fully present in each moment.
Lauren has gained additional perspectives and insight on the human body through her personal experiences in dance performance, vocal training, horse back riding, weight training and Yoga. She has a deep interest in working with those who deal with pain or imbalance, as well as those who simply would like to relax, increase their awareness and explore their limitless potential.
Lauren truly believes that once we learn to trust the body's wisdom, we can function in a more balanced and efficient way. We are empowered as we realize the body's ability to self-heal . In this sense, she sees her role as a massage therapist and yoga instructor, not as the healer, but as a facilitator for healing to take place. Her passion for the art of healing motivates her to learn new ways of approaching the body. In the near future, she plans to certify in Thai Massage, which beautifully merges passive yoga positions and therapeutic massage strokes.

Laura Lane, Certified Kripalu Instructor, has been practicing yoga in Jacksonville since 1994. She has practiced within different traditions, including Kripalu, Anusara, and Vinyasa Flow. In her classes, Laura highlights the mind-body connection, using the breath to slow down the mind and honor the body.

After raising four beautiful children and teaching Special Education and Preschool students for 30 years, I knew it was time for change. I yearned to tap into the spiritual and creative side of myself. I had been practicing yoga for 15 years and had found that it had profound effects. I have severe scoliosis, and yoga helped me to be flexible, and pain free. I also found practicing yoga helped me to be calmer and more at peace with myself.
I decided to become a yoga teacher to share the gifts that I had received. I traveled to Massachusetts where I received my Kripalu Yoga teaching certificate in 2005. In 2007 I relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where I enjoy teaching yoga classes.
In addition, I volunteer at the Women's Center of Jacksonville where I tutor women for the GED. I am available to tutor struggling young readers.

Pilates

For each class I recommend bringing water and your own yoga/pilates mat for sanitary purposes, but we will have plenty on hand if you need it :-)
Pilates is a highly effective way to shape up, slim down, and feel great. Once the secret of dancers and celebrities, it is now recommended by personal trainers and physical therepists everywhere.
An emphasis on movement quality, posture and breathing makes STOTT Pilates a safe, challenging and revitalizing workout. Anyone who wants to be in top condition can do STOTT Pilates. Some benefits include:

About Lacy
Lacy Norman received her international STOTT PILATES Certification after completing the Intensive Mat-Plus program at the Ballet Memphis Pilates Center in January 2007. She has been instructing students in group and one-on-one sessions ever since. Drawing from her background in Massage Therapy, she began working with Chiropractors, offering therapeutic pilates rehab sessions to clients after moving to Jacksonville in April 2007. Lacy teaches her students mind/body awareness for ease of movement and injury prevention; as well as how to breathe three dimensionally while strengthening the core. In addition to Pilates, she loves Belly Dance, Drumming, Yoga and all mind/body movement practices. Lacy looks forward to getting her Florida Massage Therapy License so she may continue to offer her clients relaxation and energetic therapies alongside strengthening and rehabilitation. She specializes in a number of massage modalities including, deep tissue/neuromuscular, hot stone, Ayurvedic, acupressure and trigger-point therapy. Her passion is to help people live healthier, happier, and more peaceful lives.
